PRIVACY POLICY

Last updated: July 13, 2026

Effective date: July 13, 2026

EHM Tech LLC ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Sober44 mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of information when you use our App.

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

You can review the most current version of this Privacy Policy at https://www.ehm-tech.com/alcohol-free-tracker/privacy/.

1. PRIVACY-FIRST DESIGN

Sober44 is designed with your privacy as the top priority. All check-ins, craving logs, journal entries, daily selfies, and sobriety, savings and recovery calculations are performed and stored entirely on your device. Your recovery data is never transmitted to our servers. The App has no user accounts, no cloud database, and no server sync — there is nowhere for your recovery data to go.

Data stored locally on your device includes:

  • Daily check-ins (date, whether you stayed sober or drank, trigger tag, optional mood rating, optional note)
  • Craving logs (date, intensity, trigger tag, optional note)
  • Journal entries (free-form text you write, grouped by date)
  • Daily routine items and their per-day completion checks
  • Daily selfies (one photo per day; the image files live in the App's private documents directory on your device)
  • Your quit plan and drink profile (quit instant, taper start date, motivation sentence, drink type, size, ABV, drinks per day, calories, weekly spend, currency)
  • App settings (selected theme, reminder times, onboarding progress and flags)

This is sensitive health information. We do not collect, store, or have access to your check-ins, relapses, cravings, moods, journal text, selfies, quit plan, or any other personal information you enter into the App. It stays on your device.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

While your recovery data remains private on your device, we collect limited technical data to improve the App:

  • Anonymous usage analytics (via Firebase Analytics) to understand which features are used
  • Crash reports and diagnostics (via Firebase Crashlytics) to identify and fix app stability issues
  • Purchase data for subscription management (via RevenueCat)
  • Device identifiers for fraud prevention and entitlement validation (via RevenueCat)

This telemetry is anonymous and describes how the App itself behaves — screens opened, features used, and technical crash diagnostics. It never includes your recovery content: no check-in or relapse records, no craving logs, no mood ratings, no journal text, no selfies, and no quit-plan or drink-profile details are ever sent to us or to any third party.

Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics are enabled only in release builds and are disabled during development.

For more information about how Firebase handles data, see Firebase's Privacy Policy and Google's Privacy Policy.

3. NO ADVERTISING

Sober44 does not display any advertisements. We do not use advertising SDKs, and we do not collect or share data with advertisers. Your experience is ad-free.

On Android, the App explicitly removes the advertising identifier permission (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID) from its manifest, so no advertising ID is available to the App or to the analytics SDKs it bundles.

4. IN-APP PURCHASES

Payment Processing: If you subscribe to the Pro version ("app_pro" entitlement, offered with a 7-day free trial), your payment is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) and handled through RevenueCat, our subscription platform. EHM Tech never receives, sees, or stores your payment card details.

Subscription Management: We use RevenueCat to manage subscription entitlements. RevenueCat uses anonymous user IDs — no user accounts are required, and your recovery data is never associated with a purchase. RevenueCat collects:

  • App usage events (app opened, subscription screens viewed)
  • Device type and operating system
  • Transaction data (purchase receipts, subscription status)
  • Last seen time in app

For more information, see RevenueCat's Privacy Policy and the store terms of Apple or Google.

5. SUPPORT CONTACT DATA

If you contact us for support through the App, the support email may include technical information to help us assist you:

  • App version and build number
  • Operating system version
  • Device manufacturer and model
  • RevenueCat anonymous App User ID
  • Timezone

This information is only collected when you choose to initiate contact and is used solely to provide support. It does not include your check-ins, cravings, journal entries, selfies, or quit plan.

6. DATA RETENTION

Your check-ins, cravings, journal entries, routine items, selfies, quit plan, drink profile, and settings are stored locally on your device only. We do not have access to this data. If you uninstall the App, all locally stored data — including your selfie photo files — is deleted from your device.

Anonymous analytics and crash data are retained by Firebase according to Google's data retention policies. This data cannot be linked back to you personally.

7. PERMISSIONS

The App may request the following permissions:

  • Notifications: To send your daily check-in reminder, risky-hour and taper reminders, health-milestone unlocks, and an optional trial-ending reminder. If you decline, reminders are simply not delivered — the rest of the App works normally.
  • Exact Alarms: To schedule reminders precisely at the times you choose, such as a risky hour or a morning taper target (Android)
  • Boot Completed: To re-schedule your reminders after your device restarts, so a reboot doesn't silently drop them (Android)
  • Camera: To take your daily selfie
  • Photo Library: To choose an existing photo from your library as that day's selfie
  • Photo Library (Add) / Storage: To save your finished timelapse video to your camera roll. On Android, storage access is limited to older versions of the operating system (API level 28 and below); newer versions do not require it.
  • Internet: Required for analytics, crash reporting, and subscription validation

All permissions are optional (except internet for core functionality) and can be managed in your device settings.

8. EXPORT AND SHARING

The App does not export your data as a file — there is no CSV, PDF, or data-file export. What it does offer is sharing of content you generate yourself, and every share is something you start:

  • Progress cards: Health, Stats, Milestone, and Countdown cards are rendered locally and captured as a high-resolution PNG, then passed to your operating system's share sheet when you tap Share.
  • Timelapse video: Rendered on your device from your daily selfies, saved to your camera roll, and shareable from there through your operating system's share sheet.

All rendering, saving, and sharing happens on your device. We do not access, intercept, upload, or store any card, video, or other shared content.

Please note: a progress card or timelapse can reveal that you are tracking your alcohol use, along with details such as your sober day count or money saved. Once you share it, it leaves the App and is under your control and the control of whoever receives it. Sharing is never automatic — the App will not post, upload, or send anything on your behalf.

9. YOUR RIGHTS

Depending on your location, you may have rights including:

  • Right to access information we hold about you
  • Right to request deletion of your data
  • Right to limit analytics via your device privacy settings
  • Right to data portability

10. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

The App is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

11. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
