EHM Tech LLC ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Checkbook44 mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of information when you use our App.

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. PRIVACY-FIRST DESIGN

Checkbook44 is designed with your privacy as the top priority. All check writing, check PDF generation, bank account and payee details, and your check register are performed and stored entirely on your device. Your check and bank account data is never transmitted to our servers.

Data stored locally on your device includes:

  • Checks (account, check number, date, payee name and address, amount, memo, and the private note that never prints)
  • Bank accounts (name on checks, optional second name, payer address, bank name and address, routing number, account number, fraction code, expiry note, next check number, check size, nickname, default account, and archived accounts)
  • Saved payees (name and up to three address lines)
  • Check designs (background choice, background photo, payer logo, bank logo, and finger-drawn signature, with images stored as files in the App's own documents folder)
  • App settings (print setup, star fill, the unsaved new check draft, Register sort, theme, onboarding progress, and launch counts)

We do not collect, store, or have access to your checks, routing or account numbers, payee names or addresses, signatures, logos, or any other information you enter into the App.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

While your check and bank account data remains private on your device, we collect limited technical data to improve the App:

  • Anonymous usage analytics (via Firebase Analytics) to understand how features are used
  • Crash reports (via Firebase Crashlytics) to identify and fix app stability issues
  • Purchase data for subscription management (via RevenueCat)
  • Device identifiers for fraud prevention and entitlement validation (via RevenueCat)

Analytics and crash reporting are only collected in release builds of the App. This data does not include your checks, routing or account numbers, payee names or addresses, amounts, memos, notes, signatures, or logos.

Feature requests: When you tap "Request a feature" in the menu, the App loads the current list of requests from FeatureMe (featureme.dev), a feature-request board we run. The request carries no account, device identifier, or anything you entered in the App. Cloudflare, which hosts FeatureMe, logs it with your IP address and an approximate location estimated from that address, and we keep those logs for up to 7 days. Tapping a request, or the button to submit your own, opens featureme.dev in your browser. See FeatureMe's Privacy Policy.

3. NO ADVERTISING

Checkbook44 does not display any advertisements. We do not use advertising SDKs, we do not collect an advertising identifier, and we do not collect or share data with advertisers. The App does not request App Tracking Transparency permission and does not access the IDFA. Your experience is ad-free.

4. IN-APP PURCHASES

Payment Processing: If you purchase the Pro version, your payment is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We do not collect or store your payment information.

Subscription Management: We use RevenueCat to manage subscription entitlements. RevenueCat collects:

  • App usage events (app opened, subscription screens viewed)
  • Device type and operating system
  • Transaction data (purchase receipts, subscription status)
  • Last seen time in app

5. SUPPORT CONTACT DATA

If you contact us for support through the App, the support email may include technical information to help us assist you:

  • App version and build number
  • Operating system version
  • Device manufacturer and model
  • RevenueCat anonymous App User ID
  • Timezone

This information is only collected when you choose to initiate contact and is used solely to provide support. It does not include your checks, routing or account numbers, payee names or addresses, signatures, or logos.

6. DATA RETENTION

Your checks, bank accounts, payees, check designs (including signatures, logos, and background photos), and app preferences are stored locally on your device only. We do not have access to this data. If you uninstall the App, all locally stored data is deleted.

7. PERMISSIONS

The App may request the following permissions:

  • Notifications: To send an optional trial-ending reminder, scheduled on your device
  • Exact Alarms: To schedule that reminder precisely in your local timezone (Android)
  • Boot Completed: To re-schedule a pending reminder after your device restarts
  • Photo Library: To pick a background photo, payer logo, or bank logo from your gallery to print on your checks, through your system's photo picker; only the images you pick are copied into the App
  • Internet: Required for analytics and crash reporting (Firebase), subscription validation (RevenueCat), and loading feature requests (FeatureMe)

Printing a check uses your system's print dialog, and sharing a check PDF uses your system's share sheet. Neither requires the App to request access to your files. The App does not use your camera.

All permissions are optional (except internet for core functionality) and can be managed in your device settings.

8. EXPORT AND SHARING

The App lets you print and share checks you create yourself:

  • Check PDFs: A check, or several checks selected in the Register, rendered locally into a US Letter PDF document showing the full check face, including the payee, amount, bank details, and MICR line with your routing and account numbers
  • Printing: The same PDF sent to your printer through your system's print dialog, plus an optional test page for lining up your check paper
  • Sharing: The check PDF handed to your system's share sheet so you can save or send it

Every PDF is generated on your device and handed to your operating system's print dialog or share sheet, where you choose the printer or destination. The App does not upload printed or shared files anywhere, and we do not access, intercept, or store any printed or shared content. A check PDF contains your routing and account numbers, so share it only with people and services you trust.

9. YOUR RIGHTS

Depending on your location, you may have rights including:

  • Right to access information we hold about you
  • Right to request deletion of your data
  • Right to limit analytics via your device privacy settings
  • Right to data portability

10. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

The App is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

11. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
